| The Sydney Opera House is one of the most distinctive (有特色的) and famous 20th-century buildings, and one of the most famous performing art places (表演艺术场所) in the world. The Sydney Opera House began to be built in March, 1959, and was opened by Queen Elizabeth II (被伊丽莎白二世开放) on October 20, 1973. The Sydney Opera House is in Bennelong Point (便利朗角) in Sydney Harbour (港口), and it is very beautiful. Its designer is Jorn Utzon (约恩·伍重), a Danish architect (丹麦建筑师).
The Sydney Opera House is 183 meters tall and about 120 meters wide at its widest point (在其最宽点). It has about 1,000 rooms, five theaters, five rehearsal studios (排练室), four restaurants, six bars (酒吧) and many souvenir (纪念品) shops. It is the proud of Australia!
