| 【问】请兵兵老师给我讲讲finally, at last和in the end的区别好吗？（浙江绍兴 陈祉萱）
【答】(1) finally 表示某一动作发生在“最后”，无感情色彩，与之搭配的谓语动词常常是过去式。finally 通常位于句首。如：
Finally he went to see the famous man himself. 最后，他亲自看望了这位名人。
(2) at last表示经过一定曲折之后某事才发生，强调努力的后果，带有较强的感情色彩，常出现在谓语动词为过去时的句子中。如：
Did the man in the shop understand him at last? 这位店员最后理解了他的意思了吗？
(3) in the end 表示事物发展的自然“终结”，有时可与finally互换。in the end还可用于预测将来，finally和at last没有这种用法。如：
When a piece of ice is taken into a warm room, it becomes smaller and smaller, until in the end it disappears completely. 把一块儿冰拿到温暖的室内，它就会慢慢地变小，直到最后完全消失。
I hope that everything will turn out all right in the end. 我希望一切最终都会顺利。
