| 1. already; yet; still
【词义辨析】
A. already副词，意为“已经”，多用于肯定句中，位于be动词、助动词之后，行为动词之前。有时already可用于疑问句中表示惊讶、怀疑等语气。例如：
Our visitors have come already. 来宾已经到了。
Have you already had breakfast? 难道你吃过早饭了？
B. already有时也可以和一般现在时或过去时连用，但其动词须是延续性的。例如：
It is already seven. 已经七点了。
C. yet一般用于疑问句或否定句中。在疑问句中意为“已经”，在否定句中意为“还”，通常位于句末。例如：
—Have you found the book yet? 你已经找到那本书了吗？
—Not yet. 还没找到。
D. still意为“仍然；还”，表示某事还在进行中，可用于各种句式，一般只位于句子中间。例如：
Do you still teach in that school? 你还在那所学校教书吗？

【词义辨析】
A. one day通常指过去的某一天，也可指将来的某一天。例如：
One day, Mr Ampere went out for a walk in the street. 一天，安培先生到街上去散步。
B. some day = someday，只指将来的某一天，不表示过去。例如：
Do you hope to visit the pyramids some day? 你希望将来有一天参观金字塔吗？

【词义辨析】
A. thanks to意为“多亏；由于”，后接名词或代词作原因状语。例如：
But thanks to space satellites the world is becoming much smaller. 但是由于有了太空卫星，世界正在日趋变小。
B. thanks for用于对别人已做的事表示感谢，后接名词、代词或V-ing形式。例如：
Thanks for sending me such a nice present. 谢谢你送给我这么好的礼物。
