[答] on to意为“到……上面”，是表示方向的介词，多用于英国英语，美语里面常写作onto。如：He jumped onto the horse. 他跳上马背。She put her glasses onto her nose to read the evening paper. 她戴上眼镜看晚报。
有些动词与onto, on to或on均可搭配，意思区别不大。如： I put the book on (to) the table. 我把书放在桌子上。
下列情况下，on to不能合写成onto：
1. 当on为副词作状语，to单独作介词时。如：They drove on to the next town. 他们继续驾车到另一个城镇去。Please pass it on to the other students. 请把它传给其他学生。Autumn starts in August, and goes on to October. 秋天从八月开始，延续到十月。
2. 当to是不定式的一部分（即不定式符号）时。如：
He went on to do the math problems. 他接下去做数学题。The teacher went on to tell us about English names. 老师接下去告诉我们有关英语的姓名。
